Soccer-related concussions are common among middle school girls and most continue to play with symptoms.

WHEC Rochester, Jan 21, 2014

Soccer-related concussions are common among middle school girls and most continue to play with symptoms.

A new study of 351 young female soccer players found a concussion rate of 13-percent per season. Almost 60-percent of these athletes continued to play with concussion symptoms with nearly half seeking medical attention.

Researchers say more education is needed to help players and parents understand the risks of concussions and to establish guidelines for returning to the field.
